About The Position

The Montana Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a Mental Health Manager to plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive strategy for delivering quality behavioral health services across DOC-operated and contracted facilities, as well as a statewide network of assessment, treatment, and pre-release facilities. This role is crucial for ensuring the availability of behavioral health care for over 2000 individuals in secure care facilities. The position also involves developing and maintaining relationships with community and contracted corrections partners, serving as a subject matter expert on correctional behavioral health. Key responsibilities include establishing system-wide goals, overseeing quality assurance, managing the behavioral health budget, and interpreting/implementing policies to ensure compliance with state and federal laws. This position directly supervises seven employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the program, behavioral or social services, public administration, human services, business, or another healthcare related field.
  • 3 years of progressively responsible professional management experience.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains relationships with and serves as a subject matter expert on correctional behavioral health to community and contracted corrections partners.
  • Establishes system-wide goals and program objectives.
  • Ensures consistent application of policy, procedure, and protocols across all facilities.
  • Oversees quality assurance efforts.
  • Monitors progress of achievement on short and long-term objectives.
  • Maintains a working awareness and understanding of the Health Services Behavioral Health-related budget.
  • Interprets, develops, and implements policies and procedures to achieve consistency, clarity, and adherence to requirements with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Directly supervises seven employees.
