About The Position

The mental health counselor will provide specialized, comprehensive clinical assessments and consultations. Access to assessments and recommendations will help facilitate client-centered linkage to community services. The LCAS will focus on inmates who are in detox protocol but who are not participating in the Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT) program. The role of the mental health counselor is to provide comprehensive clinical assessments and provide psych services. Requirements

  • LCSW OR LCHMC in NC required
  • A valid drivers’ license and proof of auto insurance is required for this position, including a reliable means of transportation to complete job functions.
  • General working knowledge of the human services delivery system in North Carolina

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and clinical evaluations for individuals.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans addressing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling focused on behavioral health.
  • Collaborate with reentry coordinators, case managers, probation officers, and healthcare providers to ensure integrated care
  • Facilitate referrals to community resources including detoxification, residential treatment, outpatient services, employment, housing, and social supports
  • Document clinical progress and maintain compliance with program and regulatory guidelines
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, training, and community outreach related to jail diversion and reentry.
  • Other duties as assigned.
