Mental Health Counselor
About The Position
TK Health is seeking a Licensed Mental Health Professional to join our correctional healthcare team serving Coles County in Charleston, Illinois. This is a part-time position working 6 hours per week at $50.00-$52.00 per hour, offering an excellent opportunity for a licensed behavioral health professional looking for meaningful clinical work with a schedule that can complement a full-time position, private practice, or other professional commitments. At TK Health, you’ll work in a unique clinical environment where your experience and professional judgment matter. Correctional mental health gives you the opportunity to provide care to individuals experiencing mental illness, substance use disorders, crisis situations, and other behavioral health needs while working alongside an experienced healthcare team.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in social work, clinical psychology, counseling, psychiatric nursing, or a related behavioral health field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current applicable Illinois behavioral health licensure (LCPC, LCSW, LMFT, or other qualifying professional license).
Nice To Haves
- Previous correctional healthcare experience is not required.
Responsibilities
- Assess, evaluate, and coordinate mental health care for incarcerated patients.
- Develop individualized treatment and release plans that promote continuity of care.
- Assess psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention.
- Conduct suicide risk assessments and prevention services.
- Provide substance use and MAT counseling.
- Develop individualized treatment plans.
- Coordinate care with medical, correctional, and behavioral health staff.
- Make appropriate referrals for psychiatric evaluation and medication management.
- Connect patients with community mental health agencies and support services.
- Assist with discharge and release planning.
- Collaborate with community providers.
- Maintain appropriate clinical documentation.
- Provide mental health education to facility staff when needed.
- Perform other patient-care responsibilities as assigned.
