The Nevada Division of Child and Family services (DCFS) is recruiting a Mental Health Counselor 1, underfilling a Mental Health Counselor 2 position, for the Nevada Youth Parole Bureau in the Las Vegas office. The Bureau serves youth aged 12 to 20 who are committed to DCFS by juvenile courts across Nevada, providing supervision and case management. This role primarily involves conducting risk and need assessments in detention facilities, interacting with community providers, overseeing billing, and providing recommendations for youth care. The position also includes case management, screening, and assessments to determine client eligibility and appropriate placement within the juvenile justice system, Residential Treatment Centers, or community programs. A working knowledge of counseling theories, mental illness, emotional/behavioral disorders, crisis intervention, and laws governing child abuse and neglect is required. Services are generally provided Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. and sponsorship is not available.
