Requirements
- 2+ years in correctional, forensic, or mental health treatment.
- A valid state driver’s license is required.
- Proficiency in detecting potential behavioral problems and referring inmates for appropriate treatment.
- Expertise in group and individual counseling techniques.
- Thorough understanding of community-based resources, mental disorders, diagnostic nomenclature, and intervention approaches suitable for a correctional environment.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in clinical or counseling psychology and a Master's degree in clinical or counseling psychology preferred.
- CSAC- Certified Substance Abuse Counselor certification is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide and assist in coordinating comprehensive mental health services for inmates.
- Collaborate on developing and implementing mental health policies, procedures, and services at the facility.
- Work alongside other agencies to ensure professional mental health services are provided to inmates.
- Coordinate and deliver in-service training related to mental health and inmate services for staff members as needed.
- Attend relevant training sessions coordinated by the Director of Staff Development, which may require travel to various locations.
