About The Position

The University of Arkansas is seeking a Mental Health Clinician for a 10-month position. This role involves providing comprehensive mental health services to the university community, including individual, couple, and group counseling, as well as emergency mental health services and consultation. The clinician will also be involved in outreach presentations, clinical supervision of graduate students, clinical disposition activities, and staff meetings. Coordination of specific areas such as group therapy, outreach, training, embedded services, or eating disorder programs may also be required. The position involves clinical documentation and requires obtaining and maintaining licensure in Arkansas. This is a 100% appointed, 10-month position with annual employment dates from August 1 through May 31. The role is designated as "remote essential," requiring staff to take UA-issued laptops home nightly and on weekends to be prepared to provide telehealth services during unexpected campus closures or emergencies. This ensures continued access to quality mental healthcare for the UA community.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in social work or counseling from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Eligible to obtain provisional licensure in relevant discipline in the state of Arkansas within 60 days of the start date with the expectation of pursuing independent licensure in a timely manner
  • State of Arkansas license for independent practice in social work or counseling (LCSW or LPC) (for Mental Health Clinician II)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work as part of a highly cohesive and interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work well in crisis situations
  • Ability to balance administrative tasks with clinical tasks
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree from an accredited institution of higher education in social work or counselor education
  • 3+ years of experience in the evaluation and treatment of individuals whose age and psychological development are similar to traditional and non-traditional college students
  • Experience working within brief models of care, as evidenced in application materials

Responsibilities
