Mental Health Clinician - 10 Month
About The Position
The University of Arkansas is seeking a Mental Health Clinician for a 10-month position. This role involves providing individual, couple, and group counseling, emergency mental health services, and consultation to the University community. The clinician will also conduct outreach presentations, supervise graduate students, perform clinical disposition activities, attend staff meetings, and coordinate specific program areas (e.g., group, outreach, training, embedded, eating disorders). Clinical documentation and obtaining/maintaining licensure in Arkansas are also key responsibilities. This is a 100% appointed, 10-month position with annual employment dates from August 1 through May 31. The role requires routine shift hours, infrequent overtime, and the ability to maintain regular, reliable attendance. As a "remote essential" role, clinicians must be prepared to provide telehealth services during emergencies or campus closures, including taking UA-issued laptops home nightly and on weekends. This ensures continued access to quality mental healthcare for the campus community.
Requirements
- Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in social work or counseling
- Eligible to obtain provisional licensure in relevant discipline in the state of Arkansas within 60 days of the start date with the expectation of pursuing independent licensure in a timely manner (for Clinician I)
- State of Arkansas license for independent practice in social work or counseling (LCSW or LPC) (for Clinician II)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated experience and ability to work as part of a highly cohesive and interdisciplinary team
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work well in crisis situations
- Ability to balance administrative tasks with clinical tasks
- Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
Nice To Haves
- Doctoral degree from an accredited institution of higher education in social work or counselor education
- 3+ years of experience in the evaluation and treatment of individuals whose age and psychological development are similar to traditional and non-traditional college students
- Experience working within brief models of care
Responsibilities
