About The Position

The Department of Corrections, Division of Health & Rehabilitation Services, is recruiting for a Mental Health Clinician 3 position at the Palmer Central Center (PCC) located in Sutton, Alaska. This position will provide sex offender treatment for individuals convicted of a sex offense assigned to the Sex Offender Management Program (SOMP), following department-approved curriculum and in accordance with department standards. The role involves performing ongoing assessments of individuals’ amenability, motivation, risk, and progress. Additionally, the clinician will consult and coordinate with institution staff, probation/parole staff, and the Criminal Justice Planner as part of a multidisciplinary team regarding the progress of offenders in treatment and provide input about management strategies.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree OR Master’s degree from an accredited college in counseling, psychology, social work, child guidance, vocational rehabilitation, or a closely related field.
• Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities in Accountability, Developing Others, Managing Human Resources, Psychology, and Therapy and Counseling.
• Progressively responsible professional experience performing psychotherapeutic casework.
• Must meet the approval standards established in DOC Regulations, 22 AAC 30 Sex Offender treatment Providers.
• Must be licensed as a psychologist, psychological associate, clinical social worker, marriage and family therapist, professional counselor or psychiatrist in the State of Alaska or be able to obtain licensure within 90 days of a conditional job offer.
• Reciprocity may be granted to a provider from a jurisdiction outside of Alaska if the provider meets minimum requirements of Alaska Sex Offender Treatment Standards of Care.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must pass a criminal history check.
• Must be fingerprinted.
