Men's Design Summer Internship
About The Position
The Men's Design Summer Internship supports the Express brand at PHOENIX Retail, LLC, a retail platform operating the Express and Bonobos brands. The PHOENIX Internship Program is a paid, 10-week program for rising junior and senior undergraduates and graduate students, offering hands-on experience, cross-functional collaboration, and opportunities to develop professional skills while learning from experienced professionals. The 2027 program runs from June 2 to August 5 and is based at the company's New York office. Interns are expected to work full-time, 40 hours per week, follow a four-days-in-office approach, relocate to the office location, and commit to the full program. Housing accommodations are not provided. The program includes professional-development workshops, networking sessions with leaders, mentorship opportunities, cross-functional group projects, group outings, social events, and volunteer opportunities. The listed pay range is $23.00–$30.00. Applicants must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States; PHOENIX does not sponsor work visas for this position.
Requirements
- Be a rising junior or senior undergraduate student or a graduate student.
- Be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Be available to follow the four-days-in-office approach.
- Relocate to the office location; housing accommodations are not provided.
- Commit to the entire 10-week program, June 2–August 5.
- Be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States; work visa sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities
- Work alongside Design teams as they build the seasonal line.
- View and select trends applicable to Express menswear through competitive research.
- Participate in design research, including sourcing images, fabrics, trims, prints, colors, and linings.
- Develop concept boards for presentation meetings.
- Create technical sketches and illustrations for seasonal presentations by hand and using Adobe Illustrator.
- Organize samples into categories for reference during key meetings and working sessions.
