About The Position

The Memory Care Engagement Coordinator conducts resident activities that promote health, wellbeing, engagement, and growth within a comprehensive Memory Care program. The position also participates as a caregiver, providing hands-on care and physical and emotional support while maintaining a safe, comfortable, home-like environment. The stated shift is 9 a.m.–5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Responsibilities

Assist with lifestyle programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual opportunities for Memory Care residents.
Help plan programs for holidays and special events and identify appropriate stimulation for residents at various levels of dementia.
Motivate residents to participate in individual and group activities suited to their interests and opportunities for growth.
Help maintain equipment and supplies in accordance with department budget guidelines.
Address resident groups and other groups on subjects of common interest.
Participate in relevant community in-services and training.
Help analyze resident surveys to ensure activities meet residents’ interests.
Coordinate and facilitate appropriate mixed-group activities.
Be responsible for a designated group of residents during the shift, know their whereabouts, and physically check on them as assigned.
Observe, report, and document changes in residents’ symptoms and conditions, including skin, behavior, alertness, weight, diet, and activity participation.
Respond promptly to the security system and resident call bells.
Notify a supervisor and/or the Director of Nursing when a resident’s care needs increase.
Assist with continence management and properly dispose of continence products to maintain sanitation.
Serve and collect food trays, assist as needed, and report meal refusal or loss of appetite.
Maintain cleanliness in residents’ rooms and work areas and follow cleanliness, hygiene, and health precautions.
Help residents maintain independence, dignity, and physical safety.
Lead, participate in, and assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, ambulation, transferring, and eating, as instructed.
Engage residents in life skills and other life-enrichment activities.
Greet and assist customers, guests, family members, residents, vendors, and team members.
Do resident laundry as assigned and needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
