About The Position

The Memory Care Aide, officially titled Residential Care Assistant, assists residents at Masonicare at Mystic with activities of daily living and personal care to maximize independence, freedom of choice, and quality of life. The role supports residents according to their age, needs, and abilities, while contributing to a resident-centered activity program and acting as a resident advocate. The position is based at Masonicare at Mystic Assisted Living in Mystic, Connecticut. It is an evening-shift role scheduled for 24 hours per week, every other weekend.

Requirements

CNA certification is required.
No experience is required.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with activities of daily living and personal care, including bathing, dressing, mobility, toileting, meals, personal hygiene, transfers, and care of assistive devices.
Assist with instrumental activities of daily living, including telephone calls, light housekeeping, laundry, escorting residents, coordinating internal transportation, and mail delivery or correspondence.
Assist residents with self-administration of medications through cueing only.
Observe and report changes in residents’ physical condition and cognitive or emotional status to the ALSA Supervisor or Director of Assisted Living Services as needed.
Conduct resident room checks and rounds, monitor for environmental safety hazards, record incidents, errors, accidents, and resident-related events.
Support dining activities, including escorting residents, setup and cleanup, and meal service.
Participate in and support the resident-centered activity program, and complete required written documentation about resident care and activities during the shift.
Advocate for residents and follow agency confidentiality policies.
Communicate tactfully and diplomatically in sensitive or emotionally charged situations, and follow up with appropriate staff, residents, or others about complaints, problems, and concerns.
Act as an ambassador to guests and off-campus visitors, maintain certifications required for employment, and perform other duties as required.
