About The Position

The Membership Recruiter is a seasonal, part-time position that supports membership growth by representing Girl Scouts of Northern California throughout the community during the peak recruitment season. Working up to 25 hours per week, this role recruits new girl and adult members through community outreach, school partnerships, and recruitment events while creating welcoming experiences that connect families with local Girl Scout opportunities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and/or related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid California Driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, proof of insurance.
  • Able to pass Girl Scouts of Northern California’s background screening process (including fingerprinting, criminal education, social security, and Department of Motor Vehicle verification).

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and families.
  • Knowledge of Girl Scouts or other youth-serving organizations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for Girl Scouts at community events, schools, and family gatherings.
  • Promote the Girl Scout experience and its impact on girls’ confidence, leadership, and life skills.
  • Create welcoming and engaging interactions with families and community partners.
  • Representing Girl Scouts at events such as: Back-to-School Nights, Community festivals and events, School and neighborhood tabling opportunities, Troop formation meetings, Girl Scout recruitment events.
  • Lead short, hands-on activities that introduce girls and families to Girl Scouts.
  • Motivate adults to become troop leaders and volunteers.
  • Guide families on how to start or join a troop.
  • Capture contact information and generate leads for follow-up.
  • Assist families with online registration when needed.
  • Schedule and coordinate local recruitment events while identifying schools, community organizations, and tabling opportunities to increase Girl Scout visibility and membership growth.
  • Distribute flyers and promote recruitment opportunities at schools and community locations.
  • Participate in school rallies or classroom presentations when available.
  • Help prepare materials and supplies for events.
  • Set up and manage Girl Scout displays or tables.
  • Record event attendance and leads gathered.
  • Assist in follow-up with interested families after events to encourage registration.
