About The Position

The American Camp Association (ACA) is seeking a remote, full-time Membership Manager passionate about the benefits of a camp experience. This role requires strong relational skills and the ability to work with diverse customers, volunteers, and staff. The position will support the Western Region, spanning multiple time zones from Mountain to Hawaii, with a primary focus on Pacific Standard Time. The ACA is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering camps to create quality experiences that foster belonging and growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with ACA (as a volunteer or employee) or relevant experience
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of staff and management
  • Creative, versatile, flexible team player willing to work enthusiastically with constantly changing priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish fluency strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assure that ACA embodies inclusive and welcoming practices to its members and assure members from all backgrounds feel welcomed and have a voice at ACA.
  • Lead membership and accreditation sales efforts by identifying and pursuing new membership opportunities.
  • Proactively cultivate, recruit, and retain members/customers.
  • Provide exemplary, timely, professional customer service.
  • Guide camps and individuals through the joining process.
  • Collaborate with accreditation managers to onboard new “trying” camps and existing accredited camps.
  • Represent ACA at partner organization events (virtual and in-person) to enhance ACA’s presence and impact. This includes travel to events, exhibiting, developing session proposals, and delivering educational sessions in person or virtually.
  • Guide volunteers toward growth and service to the particular market (local market, kindred market, etc.), supporting the development of resources to meet the needs of the market and the goals of the association.
  • Work with volunteers to organize, coordinate, and execute virtual and In-person member engagement and kindred events.
  • Develop, plan, and organize a calendar for informational/educational events regarding the pathway to accreditation, learning center resources, and ACA general resources.
  • Work with team leaders, appropriate staff, and volunteers to create and adhere to realistic budgets. Forecasting expenses and income (camp retention and growth).
  • Develop and execute communications to members/customers regularly using association tools and communication guidelines including for newsletters, web pages, and other communication channels.
  • Understanding and using CRM extensively. Actively tracking customer/member interactions in CRM and managing data.
  • Track and monitor relevant metrics to recognize and respond to strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in a timely manner.
  • Provide input regarding products and services including professional development offerings and content.
  • Develop systems in conjunction with other staff and teams that facilitate member satisfaction.
  • Support a regional team, including support at designated in-person events, to advance the goals of the region and the association.
