About The Position

The Membership Manager is responsible for developing strategy and executing set objectives to increase girl and adult membership through effective recruitment and retention. The Manager demonstrates strong leadership skills in ensuring a robust infrastructure is in place for the delivery of high-quality Girl Scout programs in the community through volunteers. The Membership Manager also mentors and shares expertise on strategies and tactics with volunteers and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and equivalent experience in a related field preferred.
  • Commitment to the mission and goals of Girl Scouting.
  • Membership in GSUSA
  • Ability to work with volunteers and community contacts from diverse backgrounds and to build effective volunteer leadership teams.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and produce results.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be effective in using electronic media, including the internet.
  • Must have access to a car in working order and the ability to travel; proof of meeting North Carolina state requirements regarding vehicle registration and inspection, driver’s license, and liability insurance.
  • Verbal fluency, good grammar, and professional appearance.
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift or move a minimum of 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Increase girl and adult membership in assigned geographic area by developing and implementing recruitment and re-engagement strategies in partnership with volunteer leadership.
  • Achieve membership recruitment, retention and development goals
  • Work in partnership with Executives on regional and Council-wide projects (membership strategy, volunteer engagement and retention, troop recruitment tactics)
  • Act as team lead on specified membership campaigns/initiatives.
  • Demonstrate leadership on membership training team in partnership with Executives to create, lead and/or to mentor colleagues in professional development areas.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills to market program and partnership opportunities to key community leaders, institutions and business organizations.
  • Execute tactical strategies to achieve long-range goals and objectives for diversifying girl and adult membership through developing and implementing methods of Girl Scout Program delivery.
  • Recruit, appoint, direct and evaluate qualified volunteers to carry out Girl Scout Pathway implementation.
  • Ensure volunteer support is in place for delivery of membership activities for girls by providing access to current resources, support and enrichment opportunities.
  • Develop strategies to identify and address membership growth opportunities based on analysis of demographics and community needs.
  • Collaborate with cross departmental teams by sharing available resources and expertise.
  • Report on progress and completion of goals and revise strategies on a regular basis.
  • Actively support and promote the Council’s and GSUSA’s affirmative action plans and their commitments to diversity throughout the organization by ensuring that recruitment efforts reach out to all racial/ethnic groups and provide equal access.
  • Demonstrate expertise in the National Program Portfolio, GSUSA handbooks and guidelines, Council policies, as well as the Girl Scout Mission and Council Plan of Work.
  • Promote and support council fundraising efforts and initiatives, including but not limited to Fall Product Sale, Annual Cookie Sale Program and Family Partnership.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with donors, United Ways, members, volunteers, staff and community contacts.
  • Demonstrate leadership by effectively managing conflict through modeling appropriate behavior, problem solving and providing support.
  • Travel and participate in special projects at other regional offices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
