About The Position

This role assists members and potential members with their financial transactions, involving paying and receiving cash and other negotiable instruments. The position involves explaining services, responding to problems, and directing members to the appropriate people. The Member Service Representative 1 is responsible for the efficient, effective, and accurate performance of teller functions while representing the Credit Union in a courteous and professional manner.

Requirements

  • Under one year of similar or preparatory experience.
  • A high school degree or equivalent.
  • Excellent knowledge of P1FCU products and services.
  • Familiarity with various computer software programs and comfort with automated technology.
  • Ability to type, use PC, and general office equipment including a ten-key calculator.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word programs.
  • Excellent organizational and editing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with vendors, staff, members, and the general public.
  • Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
  • Capable of climbing/descending stairs in an emergency situation.
  • Able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator.
  • Routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary.
  • Able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management.
  • Capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
  • Able to perform job functions independently and with limited supervision.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.
  • Able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence.
  • Able to perform basic financial calculations with accuracy.
  • Able to deal calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public.
  • Able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadline, requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace.
  • Capable of exercising the highest level of discretion on confidential matters.

Responsibilities

  • Receives share deposits and loan payments.
  • Disburses cash or check withdrawals.
  • Processes cash advances, travelers' checks, cashiers' checks, money orders, and wire transfers.
  • Verifies transactions.
  • Monitors deposit amounts and examines documents for endorsement and negotiability.
  • Detects and resolves discrepancies promptly.
  • Balances daily transactions and verifies cash totals.
  • Investigates and resolves out-of-balance conditions.
  • Assures that appropriate records are maintained and required reports are prepared.
  • Answers questions and solves problems for members by listening to problems, collecting data, securing answers, and reporting results to the inquiring party.
  • Resolves member bookkeeping and checking account problems.
  • Takes stop payment orders.
  • Orders checks for members' accounts.
  • Completes appropriate forms for member's needs.
  • Acts as liaison between members and various organizations and departments.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of area activities of any significant problems or concerns.
  • Maintains member account information on computer system and ensures privacy of member account information.
  • Performs file maintenance and account changes as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including but not limited to drive-up service and night drop functions.
  • Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Performs related clerical duties and attends meetings as required.
