About The Position

The Protocols team is Anchorage Digital’s back-end team working closest to blockchain technologies. It develops digital-asset capabilities and works with product and design teams on DeFi, governance, and participation mechanisms. The team integrates new blockchains and technologies into the company’s platform and builds a scalable, reproducible, and reliable layer that business lines can use to interact with different blockchains. Team members contribute technical expertise and architecture skills, mentor colleagues, and help the team grow. The role involves researching and integrating cryptoassets, implementing client-facing participation features, and developing infrastructure that works across crypto networks. It also includes supporting assets through network upgrades, monitoring for network-wide issues, contributing to and reviewing code across engineering, and influencing architecture and product roadmaps. The team values balancing delivery speed with quality, deterministic testing, and reducing technical debt and bureaucracy. Anchorage Digital requires all new hires to complete in-person onboarding for physical identity verification and secure IT setup. Requirements

Real-world experience building complex distributed systems.
Engineering skills; the team primarily uses Go, but no specific language or framework is required.
Enjoy building services from scratch and supporting them over time.
Care about code quality and test infrastructure.
Prioritize end-user experience and business value over technology for its own sake.
Knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as concurrency, algorithms, and data structures; a formal computer science degree is not required.

Nice To Haves

Experience with applied cryptography.
Comfort diving into lower levels of the software stack and open-source projects to find the root cause of bugs.
Interest in cryptography, blockchain protocol white papers, and emerging cryptoasset innovations.
Background in the finance industry.

Responsibilities

Research new cryptoassets and integrate them into Anchorage Digital’s platform.
Implement client-facing participation features such as staking, governance, and vesting.
Develop infrastructure that scales across crypto networks.
Support assets through upgrades and monitor for network-wide issues.
Contribute to and review code across the stack and engineering organization.
Balance shipping quickly with maintaining quality.
Foster deterministic testing practices while minimizing technical debt and bureaucracy.
