About The Position

QuantumScape is developing solid-state lithium-metal battery technology intended to enable greater energy density, faster charging, and enhanced safety while supporting a transition toward lower-carbon energy sources. The Process Engineer will develop, optimize, and coordinate production processes and drive continuous improvement to increase production volume, yield, and performance. The role applies lean manufacturing principles to process flows and production-line configuration while following safety guidelines. The position involves designing tests using moderately complex hardware, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing reports to support root-cause analysis of engineering challenges. The engineer will improve critical-to-quality metrics, manufacturing uptime, and equipment reliability; apply statistical analysis to improve product reliability and yield; and collaborate with cross-functional teams to introduce moderately complex processes into production. The role also includes preparing reports, standard operating procedures, process flow charts, and process specifications, as well as training team members and ensuring training compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, plus 2 years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, product development, quality engineering, battery manufacturing, or a combination thereof; alternatively, a Master’s degree or equivalent in one of these fields may substitute for the bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience.
  • 2 years of experience with manufacturing processes, or any experience with a Master’s degree.
  • 1 year of experience with manufacturing scale-up and new process introduction, or any experience with a Master’s degree.
  • 1 year of experience with process engineering fundamentals, including SPC (Statistical Process Control), DOE (Design of Experiments), data analysis, and data acquisition, or any experience with a Master’s degree.
  • 1 year of experience working in a product manufacturing environment, or any experience with a Master’s degree.
  • 1 year of experience with electrochemistry, ceramics, or batteries, or any experience with a Master’s degree.
  • 6 months of experience with process operations using HMI (Human Machine Interface), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), or MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), or any experience with a Master’s degree.
  • Experience requirements may be gained concurrently.
