Member of Technical Staff — Android
About The Position
Whop is hiring a native Android product builder to own a significant part of its mobile product. The role involves taking ideas from initial concept through scoping, design, development, and production launch, and building native Android features in Kotlin. The position is based in Palo Alto, California, and the team works in person. Whop is a company of about 100 people, many of whom are former founders and entrepreneurs. The company emphasizes agency, ownership of challenging problems, moving quickly, truthfulness, technical rigor, root-cause problem solving, and committing to decisions after debate.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience shipping production Android applications.
- Native Android development experience using Kotlin and Jetpack.
- Experience conceiving, building, and shipping projects end to end.
- Based in Palo Alto or willing to relocate there.
- Willingness to work in person.
Nice To Haves
- Experience shipping high-scale consumer mobile applications.
- Familiarity with TypeScript, React, and Ruby on Rails.
Responsibilities
- Own projects end to end, from initial idea and scoping through design, implementation, and production launch.
- Build and own a significant surface of Whop’s mobile product using native Android and Kotlin.
- Deliver technically correct work grounded in fact and able to withstand scrutiny.
- Solve root causes and materially improve systems.
- Debate decisions openly, then execute together.
