About The Position

The Member Integration Specialist is responsible for leading distributor onboarding, technical data enablement, and pricing implementation across the Unity program. This role serves as the central point of coordination between distributors, third-party partners, and internal teams to ensure timely, accurate, and scalable onboarding and operational execution. This position was established in direct response to Unity’s leadership team’s IDS process, which identified onboarding as consuming 15–50% of Unity employee time and frequently exceeding target timelines by 2–3x. The role was created to directly address four core onboarding challenges: Distributor technical data transmission gaps, Incomplete/inaccurate product data (GTIN/UPC, MIN), Third-party partner de-prioritization, and Inconsistent contract pricing & billback processes. The Member Integration Specialist will play a critical role in reducing onboarding timelines to the 13-week target, improving distributor readiness, and enabling Unity to scale efficiently.

  • Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders across varying levels of technical sophistication
  • Experience managing third-party vendor and technology partner relationships
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset—comfortable navigating ambiguity in complex environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to set and reset expectations diplomatically
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple onboards simultaneously
  • Ability to influence without direct authority across distributors, internal teams, and third-party partners
  • Patient, service-oriented educator—capable of meeting distributors at their level of technical capability
  • Results-oriented with a focus on execution, accountability, and measurable improvement

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with ERP systems, pricing implementation, or rebate/billback processes preferred
  • Foodservice, distribution, or GPO experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end onboarding of Distributor Members, targeting completion within 13 weeks across all readiness dimensions
  • Develop and maintain standardized onboarding project plans with defined milestones, accountable owners, and escalation paths
  • Proactively communicate timelines and set realistic expectations with distributors who frequently underestimate the effort required for data preparation and transmission
  • Manage simultaneous onboarding workstreams without creating bottlenecks in the Foodbuy audit process
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for distributors who lack the knowledge or capability to transmit data in the correct format
  • Develop step-by-step guides, templates, and training materials to build distributor data literacy and self-sufficiency
  • Validate incoming data submissions and manage the correction cycle between distributor, iTrade, and Foodbuy
  • Educate distributors on data preparation and submission requirements prior to audit, reducing pre-audit rework cycles currently managed by internal staff
  • Identify and resolve item-level data gaps—including GTIN/UPC, MIN, and product attributes—that cause transmission failures and audit delays
  • Build and maintain distributor-specific master product files and conduct market basket reviews to ensure data completeness at launch
  • Establish data quality standards and pre-submission checklists to reduce the expectation that Unity will fill in distributor data gaps
  • Track and report on data quality improvements across the distributor portfolio
  • Serve as the consistent, accountable point of contact for all third-party partners (iTrade, Foodbuy, ERP providers, contract management platforms) across each onboard
  • Establish and manage structured engagement cadences with third parties to ensure Unity onboards are prioritized, not deprioritized
  • Coordinate and resolve technical issues across member ERP, iTrade, and Foodbuy, reducing ad hoc problem-solving burden on internal staff
  • Build and maintain a documentation library of distributor systems—ERP, rebate tracking, ordering platforms—and leverage best practices across the distributor network
  • Drive implementation of contract pricing within distributor ERP systems, including deviation pricing and billback processes
  • Develop and distribute standardized processes and formats for contract pricing load and billback generation, reducing the current lack of a common methodology
  • Consult distributors on contract management best practices and, where appropriate, provide recommendations on contract management software
  • Coordinate member-specific exclusions and subscriptions during onboarding to ensure distributors are positioned to act on price deviations from day one
  • Coordinate and lead distributor sales training and customer enrollment training to ensure teams are prepared to sell and utilize the Unity program
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop a GPO strategy within each distributor’s customer base as part of the onboarding process
  • Ensure each distributor is ready to successfully transmit sales data and set margin based on price deviations prior to go-live
  • Monitor onboarding performance metrics and continuously refine workflows, documentation, and toolsets
  • Support additional strategic initiatives including data management improvements, website refresh, and program enhancements
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement to reduce manual onboarding burden on the Unity team
  • Support development of scalable solutions that account for the wide diversity in member ERPs, contract management methods, and distributor experience levels
  • Partner cross-functionally across business units to design and standardize implementation approaches, while establishing best practices that scale across the organization
  • Serve as a foundational leader in building a project implementation function, shaping the processes, standards, and culture required to drive consistent project excellence
  • Track and report onboarding progress, risks, and performance metrics to leadership
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities between Operations, Sales, and Finance
  • Manage relationships and accountability with third-party partners to ensure prioritization of Unity onboarding activities
  • Develop and maintain documentation on distributor systems, capabilities, and onboarding requirements—creating a shared knowledge base that reduces individual tribal knowledge
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process automation across onboarding and data operations
