About The Position

As a Member Engagement Representative, you are the first friendly face members and guests see and a helpful voice on the phone. You welcome people, give tours, answer questions, and help members with account updates so they feel supported and included.

The role involves varied tasks, including introducing prospective members to the facility and its offerings, assisting with membership and program transactions, and helping visitors find information such as pool schedules. Representatives help create a clean, organized, and inviting welcome center while supporting the YMCA of Greater Kansas City's mission and values of being welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, determined, and cause-driven. No prior experience is required; training is provided.

Requirements

• At least 16 years old.
• Genuine interest in connecting with people from diverse backgrounds and walks of life.
• Strong communication skills in person and on the phone.
• A calm, patient approach when a member is frustrated.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
• Basic math skills for handling cash and fees accurately.
• Confidence learning new software and technology.
• Ability to work independently and use good judgment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Greet members, participants, and guests warmly in person and on the phone.
• Give tours to prospective members and introduce them to programs, classes, and volunteer opportunities.
• Stay informed about center programs, classes, and services.
• Answer phones and direct calls and visitors to the appropriate person.
• Check in members and verify visits using the membership system.
• Process membership and program transactions and maintain an accurate, balanced cash drawer.
• Listen to member concerns and handle complaints in a friendly, courteous manner.
• Promptly report safety concerns, needed repairs, incidents, and accidents to the team.
• Keep the welcome center and lobby clean, organized, and inviting.
