About The Position

This position is responsible for providing leadership guidance on establishing a productive, high performing, and safety conscious working environment. The major role of this job is to focus on all aspects related to safety, environmental, production, cost, quality, and people management through the continuous application of GBS principles for the Melt Shop department. The major role of this job is to ensure routine management efforts are followed and opportunities for improvement in processes, products, and production within the area of responsibility are identified. The General Turn Facilitator is responsible for ensuring standardization of processes within the area of responsibility. These duties will include needs assessments, auditing, coaching of production/quality improvement programs and standards, ITS training, 5S improvements, development and implementation of cost and environmental control goals, development and implementation of new and current preventive maintenance and safety management processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • A two year college degree in Engineering, Business Administration or Material Science combined with 4 to 6 years experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to standardization and production quality methods. In lieu of a degree, additional years experience in manufacturing can be considered.
  • Working knowledge of the steel manufacturing methods and techniques involving the use of heavy mill machinery and related equipment.
  • Previous qualifying experience in the Melt Shop operations a must.
  • Basic knowledge of the business system and the use of complex technical and engineering processes.
  • Ability to train and guide people.
  • Solid presentation abilities combined with good interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • People management skills a must.
  • Legally eligible to immediately work in the country of hire without current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring routine management efforts are followed and opportunities for improvement in processes, products, and production within the area of responsibility are identified.
  • Ensuring standardization of processes within the area of responsibility.
  • Conducting needs assessments, auditing, and coaching of production/quality improvement programs and standards.
  • Providing ITS training.
  • Implementing 5S improvements.
  • Developing and implementing cost and environmental control goals.
  • Developing and implementing new and current preventive maintenance and safety management processes and procedures.
  • Performing duties and responsibilities in accordance with all Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations.
  • Reporting any situation that may have a detrimental impact to human health or the environment to their immediate supervisor.
