About The Position

The Melt Shop Day Supervisor will promote safety as our #1 priority, establish expectations, develop best practices for the area, ensure consistency, assess performance at both the individual and department level, evaluate needs, develop team members, serve as a resource for operating crews, facilitate collaboration throughout the plant, and participate in long term strategic planning for the department. The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for a specific area of the Melt Cast area and may be reassigned to a different area in the future. This position will actively participate in meetings and activities before, during, and after regularly scheduled work hours. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • Three years leadership experience

Nice To Haves

  • At least three years of melting and or casting experience
  • Four-year technical degree
  • Demonstrated knowledge in a variety of areas throughout the steelmaking process which could include raw materials, melting, refining, casting, refractories, rolling, and downstream processing.
  • Strong computer skills including word processing, presentation preparation, and data analysis
