Requirements

  • Must have operated at least a 25 ton rail mounted cab overhead crane.
  • Communication: The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information so that others will understand.

  • Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying liquid steel to and from the Caster.
  • Assisting with Refractory and Caster personnel during size changes and maintenance days.
  • Working with Ladlewall personnel with all ladle movements.
  • Performing all Bloomyard crane operator responsibilities.
  • Assisting all Shift Supervisors, OHC operators, Ladle Carrier and LMF Operators to maintain proper records of heat numbers through the shop.
  • Making timely and accurate decisions under pressure.
  • Adhering to all requirements for protective equipment for those areas.
  • Filling in any of the OHC positions at any time (OHC #2, #1, #36, #23, #5, #6, #3, #24 and #101).
  • Being involved in (when covering) all EAF down-days (clean-up & shell changes) & involved in the operation and maintenance activities of the EAF (this includes the flux systems).
  • Working in extreme weather conditions.
  • Initiating, leading, and upholding safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
