About The Position

The Melt Shop Operator is responsible for supporting the operation and loading of furnaces with scrap iron, monitoring temperature controls, and assisting in the preparation of ladle iron pouring. This role requires the ability to work in extreme heat and involves repairing and maintaining ladles, collaborating with the manufacturing team, and performing other duties as required.

Requirements

• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses and maintenance as well as using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.
• Experience inspecting equipment, structures or materials to identify the cause of errors or defects.
• Ability to work in and around extreme heat.
• Experience operating crane and forklift.
• Basic computer skills.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains ladles in use in the melt shop
• Support the Operation and loading of furnaces with scrap iron utilizing overhead crane to a specified temperature for processing.
• Help Monitor and regulate temperature controls and heating time.
• Assist in Identifying, measuring and adding alloys to ladle iron pouring preparation.
• Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure production conformity.
• Perform other duties as required.
