Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship 2027-2028: Humanities Plural
About The Position
The Fox Center for Humanistic Inquiry is seeking applications for its Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships, focusing on the theme of 'Humanities Plural'. This fellowship is open to scholars in any humanistic discipline whose research explores the evolving nature, methods, values, and public engagement of the humanities. The fellowship aims to foster interdisciplinary conversations and examine how humanistic scholarship is applied in various academic and extra-academic contexts, including digital humanities, health humanities, and public humanities. The fellowship also considers the historical development and future of humanistic learning and theory.
Requirements
- Hold a PhD (or its international equivalent, such as the DPhil).
- Have not received their doctorate before January 1, 2024.
- If applying without a degree in hand, must have successfully completed all degree requirements by June 30, 2027.
- Scholars from outside the United States must be eligible for J-1 visa (Research Scholar status) or F-1 OPT (Optional Practical Training).
Nice To Haves
- Preference will be given to applicants who have not held prior postdoctoral fellowships.
Responsibilities
- Be in residence during the academic year for the term of the fellowship.
- Participate in a weekly interdisciplinary seminar.
- Present their research at one of the seminar meetings.
- Teach one undergraduate class in their area of expertise in the College of Arts and Sciences.
- If invited for a second year, undertake additional teaching responsibilities and receive teaching mentorship.
