About The Position

The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) is seeking applications for the Lasker Data Science Prize Fellowship, commencing in Fall 2027. This fellowship offers up to three years of support for postdoctoral researchers in astronomy, astrophysics, or planetary science whose work significantly involves data science. This includes research utilizing or developing large astronomical databases, data visualization and discovery tools, image processing, data management, machine learning, and modern statistical methods. The fellowship is particularly relevant for those planning to leverage the extensive data from the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. Lasker Fellows will be based at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore.

Requirements

Hold a PhD in astronomy, physics, or a related field at the time of fellowship commencement.
Research must be in any area of astronomy, astrophysics, or planetary science for which data science is an integral part of their research.
