About The Position

The Brinson Foundation, in collaboration with the Space Telescope Science Institute, is offering postdoctoral fellowships for early-career astrophysicists and cosmologists. These fellowships are designed for individuals committed to pursuing bold, innovative research in observational cosmology. The program emphasizes projects that leverage the latest space science advancements. Proposals for instrumentation development must be linked to observing the sky. All proposals are required to include a science communication plan and strategies for engaging with broad audiences. The fellowship is open to applicants who have earned or will earn their doctoral degree on or after January 1, 2023, in astronomy, physics, or related fields. The fellowship duration is up to three years, with up to three fellowships anticipated to be awarded. The fellowships are tenable at several participating U.S. institutions, including Caltech, Cornell, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, MIT, Northwestern, Princeton, Stanford, The Ohio State University, University of Arizona, UC Berkeley, University of Chicago, University of Hawaii, University of Michigan, and University of Washington.

Requirements

Earned (or will have earned) a doctoral degree on or after January 1, 2023.
Doctoral degree in astronomy, physics, or related disciplines.
Commitment to chasing bold ideas with creative, nimble, and innovative research.
Proposals must include a science communication plan.
Proposals must include ideas for future engagement with broad audiences.
