About The Position

This role is responsible for providing medication administration and resident care services in accordance with individual service plans. The Medication Tech ensures that residents receive their medications as prescribed and that their care plans are followed diligently. This position also involves documentation, communication with other staff, participation in dining services, staff supervision, maintaining certifications, and adhering to all relevant regulations and safety protocols. A key aspect of this role is fostering a positive and supportive environment for residents and promoting teamwork among staff.

Requirements

  • Maintain proper certifications required by local and state licensing agencies.
  • Complete ongoing in-service trainings, accreditations, specific coursework, and certifications.
  • Comply with the quality assurance program.
  • Ensure services delivered are complete and designed for each resident.
  • Report identified issues not supporting quality services to immediate supervisor.
  • Follow all local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and Blood Borne Pathogen Guidelines.
  • Work in a safe manner and support others in working safely.
  • Possess management skills for staff supervision.
  • Ability to foster teamwork and assist others.

Responsibilities

  • Pass resident medications in accordance with physician orders and the Medication Administration Record.
  • Follow the services outlined in each resident’s service plan.
  • Document completion of tasks delivered on a daily basis.
  • Document observed changes in resident condition in accordance with local rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Communicate with other Medication Aides about resident needs to ensure consistent quality of care.
  • Participate in meal service, including serving, clearing, and cleaning the dining room.
  • Manage staff under their supervision during working hours.
  • Maintain proper certifications required by local and state licensing agencies, including ongoing in-service trainings, accreditations, specific coursework, and certifications.
  • Follow and comply with the quality assurance program and take steps to ensure services delivered are complete and designed for each resident.
  • Report identified issues not supporting quality services to the immediate supervisor for correction.
  • Follow all local, state, and federal rules and regulations as they apply to services delivered for all residents, including resident care and documentation, compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and Blood Borne Pathogen Guidelines.
  • Work in a safe manner, support other employees in working safely, and correct unsafe actions.
  • Assist with investigations, return to work, and management of injured workers when workplace injuries occur.
  • Foster teamwork with co-workers, show initiative in overcoming obstacles, take actions that assist others beyond job responsibilities, and have a positive impact on co-workers, residents, and visitors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
