About The Position

The purpose of the Nurse role is to administer and dispense methadone to patients as prescribed by a provider (Medical Director, Physician’s Assistant, Nurse Practitioner). The Nurse will also assist with additional tasks related to patient care within the scope of their licensure in a collaborative manner to ensure safe quality outcomes. Requirements

  • Licensed as LPN or RN in good standing in the state of Tennessee.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Learn then demonstrate proficiency of dosing and medical equipment.
  • Possesses an understanding of all Cedar Recovery’s Policies and Procedures and applicable HIPPA compliant regulations.
  • Exemplary customer service and communication skills.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.

  • Preferred experience in area of addiction medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, administers, and/or dispenses medication as prescribed while maintaining accurate dosing records and medication inventory reconciliation.
  • Documents medication discrepancies and reports to the Program Director.
  • Signs, processes, and follows all provider orders.
  • Observes and assesses patients after induction dose, documenting results and notifying provider of adverse findings.
  • Assesses patients prior to onsite dosing, notifying provider with any concerns before administering medication.
  • Coordinates guest dosing in and out to assure accurate dosages are provided.
  • Prepares and administers curbside dosing as indicated.
  • Calibrates Methadone pump.
  • Coordinates with outside agencies such as correctional facilities, hospitals, etc. after appropriate Release of Information is obtained, to assure adequate dosing until the patient can return to the treatment center.
  • Processes code change requests.
  • Performs medication counts in compliance with the diversion control policy and documents no-shows in the medical record.
  • Performs PMP/CSMD checks as required and documents in the medical record.
  • Receives and documents medication per DEA procedures.
  • Collects lab specimens as needed, recording results and processing per lab protocols.
  • Monitors lab results and physicals.
  • Provides first aid and emergency treatment as needed.
  • Assists in maintaining medical supply inventory.
  • Complies with regulatory and CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) standards.
  • Prints daily reports.
  • Assists in training new nurses.
  • Participates in Treatment Team meetings, if necessary.
  • Meets attendance and punctuality standards for scheduled shifts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with state and federal rules regulating Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs), as well as best practices outlined by ASAM, SAMHSA, and CARF.
  • Completes additional training (in-house or external) consisting of a minimum of eight clock hours annually
