Medication Aide - Evening Shift
About The Position
Legacy Retirement Communities is hiring Medication Aides to support residents by administering medications and assisting with other care and facility tasks. The role requires accuracy in monitoring vital signs and maintaining medication records, along with compassion when assisting older adults with activities of daily living. The job is available as either a full-time or part-time evening-shift position. Full-time work is five shifts per week from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; part-time work is two to three shifts per week, with shifts from 3:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Both schedules include every other weekend and rotating holidays. Employees must obtain a valid, current 40-hour Medication Aide certification in Nebraska.
Requirements
- Obtain a valid and current 40-hour Medication Aide certification in the State of Nebraska.
- Work the assigned evening-shift schedule, including every other weekend and rotating holidays.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications, including oral medications, topical medications, drops, and sprays, according to physician orders, facility policies and procedures, and the five rights of medication administration.
- Assist with medication cart changeover and checking monthly medication sheets as directed by the Charge Nurse.
- Monitor changes in residents’ physical or mental behavior and report abnormalities to the Charge Nurse.
- Keep the medication cart clean and orderly and restock supplies as needed.
- Assist with tasks beyond medication management, including light housekeeping, laundry, resident care, and other duties.
- Monitor vital signs and measures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and blood sugar.
- Maintain medication charts and documentation regarding medication administration.
