About The Position

Being a Medicar driver for LifeLine means more than transporting patients confined to wheelchairs; it helps patients increase their mobility and feel cared for. Medicar personnel are responsible for a high volume of calls. They load, transport, and unload wheelchair patients safely while following patient care protocols and completing appropriate documentation. The position is based in Carol Stream, Illinois.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age.
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Consent to a criminal background check.
Must be available for a three-day orientation.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Ability to push or pull a wheelchair that may be carrying at least 250 pounds.

Responsibilities

Transport patients to and from medical facilities and/or their homes in a timely manner.
Use GPS equipment to locate hospitals, medical facilities, and patients’ homes.
Complete a run sheet for each patient, fully recording each trip.
Keep the wheelchair van clean and in good working order.
Report mechanical problems to Dispatch and the Shift Supervisor.
Follow all company policies.
Adhere to and comply with HIPAA.
Interact respectfully with patients, escorts, family members, and facility staff, focusing on the best outcome for the patient.
