About The Position

UP Health System Marquette is seeking a Medical Technologist for their Microbiology Lab. This position is PRN with varied shifts and is part of the MAST union. UP Health System Marquette is part of Lifepoint Health, a healthcare delivery network committed to employee well-being and community health. As a Medical Technologist, you will perform diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in diagnosing and monitoring diseases. You will report to the Director of Laboratory Services. This role involves occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens and requires regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The position involves frequent sitting, computer/data entry, and equipment handling, with occasional standing, walking, and light lifting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Medical Technologist licensure through ASCP or AMT preferred (licensure must reflect education requirements).
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Valid driver license
  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP); ASCP or equivalent registry

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic testing on patient samples to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring disease states.
