A Medical Technologist who excels in this role performs diagnostic testing on patient samples to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring disease states. The position reports to the Director of Laboratory Services. Patient Populations Served: Does not directly treat or care for patients. Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record. Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present. Physical Requirements: Frequent sitting, computer/data entry, and equipment handling; occasional standing, walking, and light lifting. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Valid driver license
  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP); ASCP or equivalent registry

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Technologist licensure through ASCP or AMT preferred (licensure must reflect education requirements).
