About The Position

Ottumwa Regional Health Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Medical Technologist to support laboratory testing and patient care. The role follows standardized procedures, prepares and collects samples, analyzes bodily fluids and other substances, and studies blood samples used in transfusions. The Medical Technologist operates laboratory and automated testing equipment, evaluates results for accuracy and critical limits, and documents and reports findings according to organizational standards. The position also performs quality assurance to ensure equipment accuracy.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Medical Technologist license through ASCP or AMT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow standardized procedures and help prepare samples for testing.
• Collect samples and analyze bodily fluids and substances for abnormalities.
• Collect blood and study blood samples used in transfusions.
• Operate laboratory equipment effectively and to high-quality standards.
• Analyze test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits, and report and document results according to organizational standards.
• Perform automated tests using computerized instruments and automated equipment.
• Run tests and analyze results for reporting to a physician or registered nurse.
• Perform quality assurance work to ensure equipment accuracy.
