The Medical Technologist Registered will be responsible for demonstrating proficiency and following testing procedures and policies by adhering to quality assurance guidelines for equipment and work area, documenting corrective action to any non-conforming event. This role involves preparing reagents, maintaining an adequate supply of materials for test procedures, and managing inventory to effectively reduce departmental waste/expense. The technologist will exercise clinical judgment in assessing priorities while identifying, problem-solving, and offering solutions to test systems through the appropriate department channels, including troubleshooting with a specialist when necessary and setting up service when appropriate. Additionally, the role assists with the review and revision of procedures and documentation related to accreditation, adhering to all regulatory requirements for various authorities. Maintaining clear, real-time communications shift-to-shift and with leadership regarding issues, concerns, and problems that may affect patient care or department operations is crucial. Participation in planning and implementing change through staff meetings, task forces, or projects, as well as in the competency assessment program, is also expected.
