This role is responsible for providing quality and rapid lab results by utilizing knowledge of laboratory analyses, proper procedures, work equipment, and safety procedures. The position involves following laboratory protocols for specimen handling, test analysis, reporting, and record maintenance. A key aspect of the role is adhering to quality control policies, documenting all quality control activities, and performing instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance. The Medical Technologist/Technician will also be responsible for ordering supplies, assisting healthcare professionals with patient care, handling requests efficiently, and implementing corrective actions when test systems deviate from acceptable performance levels. Troubleshooting and identifying issues that may affect test results are also crucial. The role requires understanding and performing all duties on associated checklists, using correct medical terminology, staying updated on policies and procedures, and sterilizing instruments. Maintaining cleanliness of the work area, attending mandatory training and staff meetings, and demonstrating flexibility in working at different centers are also expected. The position requires understanding and using the medical record system, working collaboratively with colleagues and externs, and operating medical and office equipment. Participation in maintenance assignments and completing other directed duties are also part of the role.
