About The Position

This position is for a Medical Technologist Lead in the Core Lab. The role involves performing all routine technical procedures, rotating laboratory weekends with section supervisors, and coordinating technical activities. The lead technologist will assist in daily planning and organization for maximum efficiency, organize work priorities, and judge the adequacy of submitted specimens, requesting new ones if necessary. They will interrupt testing sequences for STAT procedures, recheck questionable results, and notify supervisors of workload demands requiring additional personnel. The lead technologist will supervise work performed in the section when acting as the technologist in charge, especially on weekends and holidays, and will supervise trainees in bench work activities. They will also assist in meeting requirements set forth by inspection agencies and must be trained to treat patients of all age groups. The role requires performing duties and conducting interpersonal relationships in a professional manner to project a positive image of the laboratory and hospital, interacting professionally with staff, visitors, patients, and manufacturer representatives. All contacts should be friendly, courteous, helpful, and considerate, providing good customer service. The lead technologist must answer the telephone promptly and courteously, display concern, and provide assistance as appropriate, dedicated to meeting customer expectations and working with customers to identify concerns and recommend solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology preferred.
Minimum of three years' experience as a technologist with demonstrated managerial leadership responsibility and organizational abilities.
Basic computer skills required.
Current Florida license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (Microbiology, Blood Bank or all areas (or eligible) is required).

Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally with all levels of the organization.
Must clear background and drug test required.

Responsibilities

Perform all routine technical procedures.
Rotate laboratory weekends with section supervisors.
Coordinate and facilitate technical activities in the lab.
Assist in the daily planning and organization of work activities to achieve maximum efficiency.
Organize work priorities during working hours.
Judge the adequacy of a submitted specimen and request another specimen if the original is unsatisfactory.
Interrupt testing sequence to perform STAT procedures.
Recheck questionable results.
