About The Position

Immediate openings for Med Techs to work directly with Adolescents in a residential mental health setting. Start a career that makes a difference in people's lives! As a Med Tech, you will be part of a team providing medically necessary mental health treatment services and direct supervision to children and adolescents experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric problems, and/or experiencing chronic or acute mental disorders which require active treatment. Abraxas Youth & Family Services is a national nonprofit human services provider dedicated to Building Better Futures for at-risk youth, adults, and families.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED PLUS two-years human service experience OR 60 college credit hours
  • Must pass a QMAP class provided by our facility.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be able to pass physical and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening
  • Must pass criminal background check investigation
  • Flexibility to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

  • Work shifts that include 13- and 8.5 hour shifts, weekends included based on the need of the facility/campus. With necessary breaks
  • Medication administration on all assigned med passes
  • Stocking all administration supplies in med rooms
  • Assists with stocking of delivered supplies to the medical department
  • Stocking OTC medications and delivered medications
  • Cleaning carts
  • Cleaning med rooms – infection control, sweeping, mopping, etc.
  • Empty cart trash and collecting empty med cards and bottles from admission
  • Tracking and re-supplying controlled medications
  • Notifying nurses of refills needed – with potential to be trained by a nursing to facilitate the actual ordering of medications from Omnicare; Reporting any medications that do not have refills so nursing staff can facilitate provider re-ordering
  • Notifies nursing staff of youth requiring further assessment needed
  • Accurate documentation, with an emphasis on sign-in sheet, MAR, IRs
  • Potential to inventory and order OTC stock for campus
  • Transporting youth to and from medical clinic and psych clinic as able
  • Transport youth to and from outside clinical providers as necessary and when approved by supervisor.
  • First Aid Kit stocking
  • Stocking medical supplies on units – gloves, masks, etc.
  • Picking up medications from outside pharmacies
  • Cleaning in Medical to include med and exam rooms as able
  • Potentially assisting in other administrative areas if time allows – such as requesting outside provider notes
  • Auditing MARs and required documentation related to medication passes
  • Assisting with pass medication prep and transportation medication prep
  • Scanning and uploading all individual supporting documentation to EHR – individual MARs and narc sheets, home pass signature pages, etc.
  • School med pass included in job duties to include day treatment youth
  • Follows up and documents on all OTCs given such as for headache, nausea, etc
