About The Position

The RN will provide care in an acute care medical/surgical unit within a teaching and research environment. The role encompasses services related to spinal cord injuries, telemetry, orthopedics, medicine, oncology, neurology, acute rehabilitation, general surgery, and post-operative care.

Requirements

• Hold an unrestricted license to practice nursing in one of the States, Territories, or Commonwealths of the United States or the District of Columbia
• BLS certified
• ACLS certified

Responsibilities

• Provide patient assessments
• Administer medications
• Perform IV therapy
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams
• Monitor telemetry
• Manage admissions and discharges
• Handle internal and external transfers
• Delegate tasks to assistive personnel
• Document in electronic medical records
• Perform patient transport
• Respond to emergency procedures
• Perform NGT insertion
• Manage chest tubes
• Provide trach care
• Perform dressing changes
• Monitor patient condition
• Report and treat applicable findings
• Perform IV insertions
• Assist with thoracentesis
• Assist with paracentesis
• Perform lumbar puncture
• Perform twelve lead EKG
• Perform Foley catheter insertion and discontinuation
• Monitor Doppler pressure
• Monitor Orthostatic blood pressure
• Perform wound therapy (wound vac)
• Perform Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• Administer blood transfusions
• Perform blood draws
• Administer drugs using Bar Code Medication and Administration (BCMA)
• Perform bladder irrigation
