About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care on a Medical Surgical/Orthopedic unit. The unit has 17 beds, a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio, and commonly cares for patients undergoing hip, knee, shoulder, and spine surgeries. The nurse may float to telemetry or other medical surgical floors as needed. Hospitalists are on-site 24/7, with pharmacy and respiratory therapy available around the clock. Orientation consists of one shift on the unit. The required scrub color is navy.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical surgical or orthopedic nursing specialty.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry and pass a dysrhythmia examination.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Work 36 guaranteed hours per week on 12-hour shifts.
• Work day shifts, including every other weekend; at least 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule.
• Work during holiday rotations.

Nice To Haves

• Previous travel nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient-centered care on a Medical Surgical/Orthopedic unit.
• Monitor and assess patients' conditions and administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop individualized care plans.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families.
• Participate in patient care meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
• Float to telemetry or other medical surgical floors as needed.
