About The Position

The Medical Surgical Charge Nurse works on a 13-bed medical-surgical observation floor and helps lead the team in delivering patient-centered care. The role supports a positive, respectful workplace, coordinates shift activities, assists physicians and new staff, monitors productivity, and responds professionally to patient and family concerns. The floor is described as the healthcare system’s sole Med-Surg floor and as a close-knit team focused on compassionate care.

Requirements

Registered Nurse (RN).
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to handle high-stress situations and make quick decisions.

Responsibilities

Cultivate a positive and supportive atmosphere among staff, adhering to a policy of mutual respect and encouragement.
Complete the assignment form and schedule break times for each shift.
Provide support to physicians during rounds.
Assist with the orientation of new staff and agency personnel, ensuring they understand unit policies and requirements.
Lead by example by assisting patients with personal needs and performing tasks alongside the team.
Monitor team productivity, address issues promptly, and ensure immediate corrective actions.
Address patient complaints and family concerns with empathy and professionalism.
