About The Position

Vernon Memorial Healthcare is seeking an experienced Medical Staff Services Specialist to oversee provider credentialing, privileging, medical staff governance, payer enrollment, and regulatory compliance activities. This highly visible role serves as a key liaison between medical staff leadership, providers, hospital administration, and regulatory agencies to ensure excellence in patient care, quality, and compliance. Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical Staff Services, provider credentialing, healthcare administration, or a related healthcare compliance role.
  • Strong knowledge of credentialing, privileging, payer enrollment, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and healthcare software systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • NAMSS certification, including: CPCS (Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist) or CPMSM (Certified Professional Medical Services Management).
  • Experience supporting Medical Staff committees, accreditation surveys, or hospital compliance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full credentialing and privileging lifecycle for physicians and advanced practice providers.
  • Coordinate provider enrollment, recredentialing, and revalidation with commercial and government payers.
  • Ensure compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws, CMS Conditions of Participation, accreditation standards, licensing requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Serve as a trusted resource to Medical Staff leaders, physicians, and hospital administration.
  • Support Medical Staff committees by coordinating meetings, agendas, minutes, and follow-up activities.
  • Maintain governance documents, policies, privilege forms, and credentialing records.
  • Lead accreditation readiness efforts, audits, and compliance initiatives.
  • Monitor provider credentials, licenses, certifications, and enrollment status to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Support physician onboarding, educational partnerships, student rotations, and workforce development initiatives.
  • Supervise administrative support functions related to Medical Staff Services operations.
