About The Position

Johns Hopkins Intrastaff, the internal staffing agency for the Johns Hopkins Health System and partner hospitals, is hiring a temporary full-time Medical Scribe to provide support at 401 N. Broadway in Baltimore, Maryland. The scribe documents clinical information as spoken or instructed by the clinician and helps the clinician navigate the electronic health record. The role does not involve independent clinical judgment or direct patient care. The stated schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the pay rate is $17.50 per hour. The position is available to Veterans, transitioning military personnel, National Guard and Reserve members, military spouses, wounded warriors, and caregivers. The role is on-site.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Six months of experience as a medical scribe, medical transcriptionist, or in another related medical-office job.
EPIC knowledge or experience.
Previous work experience in a similar work environment.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in a discipline such as human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, or nursing.

Responsibilities

Accurately capture medical information as spoken or instructed by the clinician.
Assist the clinician in navigating the electronic health record.
Accompany the clinician into patient exam areas to document the encounter as described by the clinician.
Seek real-time clarification of information entered into the medical record.
List diagnoses and symptoms, and document follow-up instructions and prescriptions as stated by the clinician.
Enter diagnostic testing and medication orders as pending orders that require clinician approval to activate.
Document procedures performed and described by the clinician.
Use the organization’s approved scribe statement for each clinical note.
Complete all scribe duties before leaving the patient care area.
Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times.
