About The Position

Oak Street Health is hiring a full-time Medical Scribe to support primary care providers with clinical documentation, allowing them to focus on patient care. Scribes work with a paired provider throughout the patient-care journey: preparing for visits during morning huddles, observing and documenting encounters in the exam room, and assisting with follow-up steps. The role is also referred to internally as Clinic Informatics Specialist (CIS), reflecting its focus on accurate, specific, and timely clinical documentation. Scribes document patient encounters in real time, become familiar with value-based care and chronic-condition documentation, and use ICD-10 and CPT coding expertise to help providers identify and address care gaps. Oak Street Health provides on-the-job training in clinical workflows, value-based medicine, preventive care, documentation, population health data, and team-based care. The position is suitable for those pursuing further education or careers in clinical medicine, health informatics, public health, healthcare administration, or medical coding. The employer asks candidates to commit at least one year, with two or more years considered ideal.
