Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • Experience working with the public
  • Ability to demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and techniques
  • Knowledge of computerized scheduling systems
  • Knowledge of common office computer programs; Word, Excel, Internet
  • Skill in communicating effectively with patients, clinics, and coworkers
  • Ability to multitask effectively
  • Ability to communicate calmly and compassionately in a high-volume call center
  • Adherence to all applicable HIPAA laws and the Pandya Medical Center Confidentiality Statement
  • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Previous medical practice experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of healthcare EMR preferred

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling patient appointments
  • Answering incoming calls within three rings
  • Providing excellent customer service to patients and family members
  • Communicating in a manner consistent with positive patient relations
  • Independently recognizing, interpreting, and evaluating situations and their level of urgency
  • Updating patient demographics
  • Verifying patient account and insurance information
  • Managing and responding to answering service messages and requests
  • Collecting balances, or advising that the balance will be due at the time of service
  • Verifying eligibility and obtaining updated information if there is an issue
  • Offering to accommodate patients on another provider's schedule if their requested provider is unavailable
  • Keeping a record of the number of calls managed and addressed to the highest customer satisfaction
  • Assisting in the distribution of faxes and scans throughout the day in EMR
  • Scanning reports/paperwork as needed into the EMR
  • Informing the manager of any problems and possible alternative solutions
  • Maintaining a clean work area with papers filed and/or stored in an orderly fashion
  • Assisting with the orientation and training of other employees
  • Performing other duties and tasks as assigned by Providers, Office Managers, and/or Scheduling Supervisor
  • Traveling to other locations as needed
