About The Position
Employees in this classification provide support in an assigned research laboratory. Duties include performing standard laboratory experiments and procedures on specimens from patients and/or experimental animals, routine maintenance and clean-up of the laboratory and caring for experimental animals. Work is performed under usual laboratory conditions. Some hazards may be present due to use of radioactive, carcinogenic or other potentially harmful substances.
Requirements
- High school graduation
- No previous work experience
Responsibilities
- Performing standard laboratory experiments and procedures on specimens from patients and/or experimental animals
- Routine maintenance and clean-up of the laboratory
- Caring for experimental animals
- Order reagents and lab supplies
- Keep track of inventory
- Keep lab protocols organized and up to date
- Perform experiments under the direction of the Principal Investigator
- Maintain cell cultures
- Prepare solutions, buffers and media
- Record data and keep accurate lab notebooks
- Maintain lab equipment and keep the lab clean and organized
- Follow lab safety procedures
- Other duties as assigned
