Requirements
- Possession of a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or eligibility for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
- Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Nice To Haves
- Employees who meet the Necessary Special Requirement based on the eligibility option for the RHIT or RHIA certification must obtain one of these certifications within 12 months of employment.
Responsibilities
- Organize and maintain the integrated health record system for incarcerated individuals
- Code diseases, operations, therapies, and treatments according to established guidelines
- File, withdraw, issue, and transfer medical records in compliance with confidentiality rules and legal requirements
- Review medical records and reports for completeness and accuracy and refer incomplete records for correction
- Prepare periodic statistical reports and assemble records for management review
