About The Position

This role supports health care operations by keeping medical records organized, accurate, and compliant with standards. As a Medical Records Technician, you will perform the following duties: Record Management: Organize and monitor integrated health records for incarcerated offenders Coding Responsibilities: Code diseases, operations, and treatments according to applicable standards Record Handling: File, withdraw, and issue records while following confidentiality and legal requirements Documentation Review: Check records for completeness and refer inadequate entries to appropriate staff Statistical Reporting: Prepare statistical reports on morbidity, mortality, and service utilization.

Requirements

Possession of a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or eligibility for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program.
Must obtain RHIT or RHIA certification within 12 months of employment if eligibility is used for the special requirement.
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
Ability to perform essential job functions.
Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
