About The Position

Union Post Acute is a long-term care and rehabilitation community located in Union, South Carolina. They offer a warm, home-like environment for residents in their assisted living and skilled nursing communities. The facility is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records Specialist to join their team. This role is crucial for maintaining the accuracy and compliance of resident medical records, ensuring smooth operations, and supporting the delivery of exceptional care.

Nice To Haves

• Previous medical records or healthcare office experience preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations is a plus

Responsibilities

• Maintain and organize resident medical records
• Ensure charts are accurate, complete, and compliant with state and federal regulations
• Enter and update resident information in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
• Communicate with physicians, hospitals, families, and staff regarding medical record requests
• Protect resident confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times
• Prepare records for admissions, discharges, audits, and surveys
• Work closely with our interdisciplinary team to ensure excellent resident care
