About The Position

The Medical Records Assistant is responsible for responding to medical record requests for clinics across multiple states. This role involves retrieving appropriate documents from EMR, ensuring compliance with state laws regarding medical record production and associated charges, and performing clerical activities to support the medical records department. A key aspect of this position is protecting the security and integrity of medical records to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma
  • Minimum of 1-year related experience
  • Proven history of exercising discretion and retaining confidentiality
  • Ability to understand and carry out moderately complex oral and written instructions and to make minor decisions in accordance with rules and regulations as they apply
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels; both internal and external
  • Exercises sound judgment in responding to inquiries; understands when to route inquiries to next level
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail.
